Current (electrical)
A continuous flow of electrons and/or ions, through a material with conducts electricity. A currents usually flows in a closed circuit, without beginning or end. In daily life currents are generally driven through wires by voltages, produced by batteries, generators and power plants.

Details
Alternating Current (AC)
The commonly available electric power used in buildings, including homes. The power shifts or alternates back and forth, typically changing direction 50 or 60 times per second.

Direct Current (DC)
Current which moves in a single direction in a steady flow. Normal household electricity is alternating current (AC) which repeatedly reverses its direction. However, many electronics devices require DC, and therefore must convert the current into DC before using it.
