HDMI
High Definition Media Interface
The HDMI interconnect transfers high definition video and audio signal between Blu-Ray or DVD players and your television. It is also possible to connect an game console or satellite receiver to a television.
Display Port
Display Port is a audio and video standard, mostly used for computer to monitor connection. It is not compatible with HDMI and DVI.
DVI
Digital Video Interface delivers a video signal. However DVI can transfer digital video signal but does not transfer sound.
VGA
VGA is the most common used interconnect to connect the PC to a monitor. It transfers a high resolution analogue video signal.
3,5 mm
3,5 mm is the most common used interconnect for portable MP3 player headphones.
Network
Network interconnects are designed to provide extreme network speeds up to 1000Mbps. It is common used to connect PCs to routers.
FireWire
FireWire is a digital connection which can transfer audio and video signals. It is common used to connect a videocamera or camcorders to a PC.
USB Type A
Universial Serial Bus or USB is a medium (USB 1.1 with 12 Mbps) or high (USB 2.0 with 480 Mbps) speed interface typically used for data storage, mice, keyboards, scanners, printers, digital cameras, etc.
USB Type B
This type of USB plug is common used for printer to PC connection. This plug will be used in the printer and a USB type a will be plugged in the computer.
USB Mini
This is a small USB plug. Common used for small devices such as PDAs, mobile phones and digital cameras.
USB Micro
This small USB plug can be used on small devices such as PDAs and digital cameras. Mobile phone manufacturers agreed to use the USB micro plug in the future as standard charging port.
9-pin D-Sub
The 9-pin D-Sub was designed to connect a mouse to a computer. This type of connection is old because today, USB interconnects are used to connect the mouse to a computer. Besides, lots of mice are wireless by using a USB stick to connect to the computer.
25-pin D-Sub
This 25pin printer cable connects a PC to a Printer. This plug can be plugged in the computer, the other side of the cable can be plugged in the printer.
36-pin D-Sub
This 36-pin D-Sub is a printer cable can be plugged in the printer and connect with the computer.
PS/2
PS/2 interconnects for keyboard and mouse. The green plug is for a mouse connection and the purple plug is a keyboard connector. The can be plugged in to the computer.
AT
This is an old keyboard plug. Replaced by PS/2 cable and later on replaced by USB.
